For The Journey
words for walking the path back home to yourself

Illustrating the cover
Creating an illustration for the cover of Laura Lewis's beautiful collection of poems and prose was such a dream project.
The artwork journeys across the cover with a bountiful of leaves. I love to create intuitively, and knowing the shape of the trail Laura had in mind, and which style of my work aligned to her vision I put pen to paper and began to create.
My fine line drawing was then scanned and turned white ready for the book cover. Making artworks digital so they can trail across different surfaces is such a delight. Creating this leafy illustration for a book full of such meaningful words has been pretty special.

About the book
For the Journey weaves in and out of seven sections, each an unavoidable stop on a woman's healing path home to herself. It is not merely a reflection of the author Laura Lewis's own journey, the words also act as a mirror for the reader; reminding her of her strength and ability to rise, no matter how many times life cracks her open.
The book is an unveiling; a humbling revealing of the disservice we do ourselves and the world when we forget that we are here to pave our own way.
